So far, many companies have designed research methods to monitor the development of the Internet and changes in the ways the Internet is used. They have also tried to develop studies of Internet traffic / usage / user  profiles, etc. In August 2000 the Polish Internet Survey company (Polskie Badania Internetu) came into being in order to establish the standard methodology of the Internet research. PBI was founded by leading Internet companies such as Wirtualna Polska, Interia, Agora, Presspublica and Vogel Publishing.
